Massage Therapy
Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is an umbrella term that refers to a variety of massage techniques that target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. When muscles become injured through a single-trauma, inactivity or repetitive use, the result can be pain, inflammation, lack of circulation, a build up in scar tissue and an inability of the muscle to properly lengthen or contract. This leads to continued alterations in biomechanics and increased risk of further injury and re-injury. Deep Tissue Massage can help undo all of this.

Deep Tissue Massage can be similar to Swedish massage except that it is performed more slowly, with deeper pressure and is targeted more specifically to injured muscles and hypersensitive spots known as trigger points. Trigger points often develop in injured tissue due to lack of circulation and compromised tissue length. They often refer pain to nearby areas and thus treatment can reduce not just local pain but pain in the referral pathways.
What You Can Expect
Mark and his team often incorporate and interweave Deep Tissue techniques throughout a session to bring circulation to an area, break up muscle adhesions and relieve painful trigger points. While this type of work can be uncomfortable, like any technique and treatment that we offer, we adapt the pressure and focus to each person’s pain tolerance and preferences. This type of work can be essential to resolving musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.

Deep tissue massage sessions can be a full-body session with focus on some local problem spots or the sessions can be devoted entirely to particular trouble spots.
"OnYourMark is great to work with; very attentive and skilled. Always left feeling better. Because of work, I spend a lot of time in front of the computer, OnYourMark was great at finding the stressed muscles and working them back to normal. Better than normal actually. I haven't felt this great since I can remember so I'd definitely recommend them!"
